The NA version of Legend of Dragoon released in June 2000. As for the day.. although the “likely” date is June 13th, there are at least three different release dates commonly reported by wikis and news outlets both reputable and otherwise. The 11th, the 13th, and the 14th. I grew up being told by many sources that it’s the 11th, so my heart celebrates on that day. However, it’s probably the 13th since many games would release on a Tuesday. Honestly I just want to know what each outlet’s source is, so I can trace the breadcrumbs and find an actual, verified release date. Only a few have sources, which are usually one of the other outlets anyways.
My initial thought is to bring back Dragoon Fest. It was an interesting idea I started up for the 25th anniversary of the Japanese release. I think in some ways it went super well! At the same time, basics aspects of community engagement were super low despite getting lots of eyes on the news. I didn’t want a repeat of the failed art event that only got two submissions.
I think that’s why I went quiet for awhile without meaning to. However, it did make me take some precautions for the future. For example, I can create user polls to see how many people are likely to participate. Then I’ll know if it’s worth making a given event. I’ll be doing that as I plan out a series of community events for the LoD fandom this summer. Hopefully we get some volunteers to help manage the load.
I don’t have quite so many “big reveals” lined up this time around. I have more juicy info to share, but the bulk of my focus will be on further improvements to the quality of the LoD Youtube channel’s livestreams – and a return to uploaded video content. I also have other projects to think about, like creating the press kit for Severed Chains.
In a similar vein, I’m finally getting multiple videos ready to upload to my personal YT channel. I’m a few years overdue with that, so the time is now. Hopefully it will work out, as the traditional job prospects are not going to get any less nonexistent. Capitalism is shit. (deleted rant)
It being June, that means it’s already the halfway point for 2025. I promised myself I would start up that indie studio! I will need to carve out time to get that rolling. However, I have made time to write my book, which I’m glad for. Still a long way to go, but I am feeling quite good about it. I also made a little more progress with audio drama stuffs, and I completed a full draft of that Beethoven x LoD half-remix (the remix isn’t mine, I just overlaid LoD sounds and voiceovers).
That last one really put a fire in me.. so much so that I made a second mashup. All I did was put the “Oh-Eee-Oh” chant from the Wizard of Oz on-top of the Hellena Prison track. It’s… well, maybe it’s stupid, but I think there’s something enthralling about it. Perfectly fits because the Hellena track has a similar, repeating, 3-part sound throughout. I’ll have uploads for those soon.
