Archivism

Documentation of my assorted research. This entails writing things down, making copies of content that’s in danger of being lost forever, and in most cases publishing my findings. Using the top navigation area, you can look up my choice Fandoms. Each page in that category will provide a short summary of the content, why I’m interested in it, and what work I’ve done to preserve related materials. Typically, if I archive something it’s because I really like the material. My research is much more broad, and from there I decide which things I care most about preserving.

Most of my archival work has revolved around Legend of Dragoon. I still do stuff for that game, but lately I have been focused on applying this skill to my other interests. I have expanded into games like Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, Hydro Thunder, and Kingdom Under Fire (TC/Heroes). I have also expanded to films like Battle: Los Angeles, and shows like Better Off Ted.

I consider my work to be somewhat atypical. Traditionally, archivism is focused on real-world preservation. Ancient texts, general objects, works of art, and so on. Archiving of videogames, music, TV shows, or movies is a very different process that mostly involves the internet.

Over the last several decades these types of media have become hyper-saturated content realms where it’s easy for a large majority of individual products to become forever lost in a very short period of time. And that’s just the main media itself; their bonus content is even harder to find and preserve in most cases.

I sincerely hope that my work preserving and publishing such knowledge will benefit others who share my interest in the subject matter.
