Blogging used to be this idea in my head that sounded unknown yet intriguing. It was a new concept, once upon a time. Such a slim percentage of the world population was doing it. I was barely curious to check them out without knowing how insightful they could be at the time – and I was much younger, more naive. I missed the entire blogger bandwagon – as both a writer and a reader – unwittingly resigning myself to the rest of the web in general. Fast forward to now.. I kinda wish I had gotten an early start. Back when getting one’s name out there came with a lot less attention-based competition. Here we are, Internet. Saturated and still devouring. Your stomach is expanding as fast as the universe — actually, I better fact-check  before resuming that tangent. Hm. In twenty seconds I learned that there’s an attempt at pinning-down the rate of expansion, called the Hubble Constant, and the term megaparsec. That’s sec-sy.

Anywho, here I am. I originally wanted to give blogging a try several years ago, but was stopped by [presently unknown forces]. I might detail the journey predating this blog at a later time, but for now I’m just glad I finally got started. Well, technically I haven’t yet. At this part of the writing that you are, erm, reading.. I am still in the text editor and have yet to press Publish. That said, I hope this’ll be a stellar little adventure for you to experience at your leisure – and for my benefit, too. Good? good. Now, what’s this blog going to be about overall? Will there be more to this website?

The primary ambition originated as a desire to have a public journal on my own domain space. I like the idea of talking about myself, my interests, my experiences – sharing that with other people. As I started preparing this website however, I became acutely aware of the extra ways I can use this blog. For example, I can blog about my favorite video game on the regular. I can talk about various creative and entertainment industries and the social (in)justice going on in those spaces. Also, the projects and communities I’ve been a part of or are currently contributing to. To sum up: bits of my life, favorite things, technology, nature, entertainment, gaming and game development, science, society and more. A catalog, or rather chronicle, of this tiny little speck of the ‘verse known as me.

I happened to look up the actual definition of “musings” this year and realized that I am all about that too. Musings! I want to express them. I do admit I want to get my name out there, even if just to five or ten people over the course of five or ten years. Though, I can say with confidence that a central pillar of my purpose in doing this would be for self-expression in general. Since I’ve never actually done this before, part of the point is also to see where I end up gravitating – how much I write about X or Y specific thing, or by category. What my writing style becomes or how that shifts over time. This is a new way to learn, well, me.

As for the website, I don’t see it being “just” a blog. I will use the space for the convenience of file-hosting, on the side. One prime example is that I’m actually a little-known side-mirror for a fan-created clean-up patch of a PC game called Advent Rising. I may share other random media I come across online, as well as content – including previews – of my own creative works. I wonder if I can tie in a live-stream embed easily on WordPress nowadays. Probably. And the site itself is outlined to be a hub of “Me” or things I do, so, basically the same thing as the blog but in a different format. If that doesn’t make full sense, I’m positive that these pages will speak well for themselves with each successive update. I suppose I’ll stop the initial blog entry here, universe. Thanks for having me!
